Staying at Ashwattha

Ashwattha has two guest rooms, so we accommodate a maximum of four guests at any one time. The rooms are named the Mango Room and the Tamarind Room.

Both rooms are simple, comfortable, and warmly furnished. Each has an attached bathroom, AC, and Wi-Fi. The Tamarind Room is slightly larger and has a study area, which suits guests who want a bit more space. Slippers are provided in both rooms.

Yes. Several of our guests come alone. The small scale of Ashwattha means solo travellers receive attentive, personal care.

Yes. Couples can stay together in one room or book both rooms if they prefer more space.

We recommend at least three days to begin settling in and experiencing the rhythm of the stay. For guests with specific treatment needs, longer stays of seven days or more tend to be more meaningful.

Yes. We have hosted guests from outside India. English is spoken, and we are happy to help with questions about travel, arrival, and what to expect.

Treatments and consultation

For personalised treatment stays — where treatments are tailored to specific health needs — a consultation with the doctor is part of the process. For shorter rejuvenation stays, some packages do not require a prior consultation, though one may still be recommended on arrival.

Treatments at Ashwattha include abhyangam (a traditional full-body oil massage), dhara (a steady flow of herbal liquid over the forehead or body), kizhi (herbal bundle therapies), vasti (a consultation-led internal therapy used in longer Ayurvedic plans), pizhichil (oil bath therapy), udvarthanam (a herbal powder massage), and others depending on the stay and treatment plan. Not all treatments are available in every package — your plan is shaped by your needs and duration.

Abhyangam is a traditional Ayurveda full-body massage using warm herbal oil. It supports relaxation, circulation, and the nervous system, and is one of the most common treatments in a wellness stay.

For personalised stays, your treatment plan is guided by the consulting doctor based on your needs. For shorter or rejuvenation-focused stays, you may have more flexibility in choosing from available options. We recommend discussing what you are looking for when you get in touch.

For consultation-led and personalised treatment plans, Dr. Prathibha A O is involved in understanding your needs and guiding the treatment plan. For shorter rejuvenation stays, consultation may be recommended depending on the guest's needs.

Ayurveda can support care for a range of chronic conditions, but we do not make medical promises. If you have a specific condition, please share the details when you inquire, and the doctor will let you know whether a stay at Ashwattha may be suitable and helpful.

Booking and practical details

You can reach us by WhatsApp, email, or through the inquiry form on this website. We do not have online booking — all stays are arranged directly with us so we can understand what you need.

We recommend inquiring at least two to four weeks ahead, especially for longer stays or specific dates. We are a small property and dates can fill up.

Most stays include accommodation, vegetarian Ayurvedic meals, and the treatments included in your package. Airport pickup and local experiences are optional add-ons at additional cost. Final inclusions depend on the stay duration and package.

Three days is the minimum stay we currently encourage for overnight stays. We also offer individual treatments without a stay, depending on availability. Please reach out and we can guide you.

Loose, comfortable cotton clothing is recommended — it suits Kerala's climate and is comfortable around treatments. Slippers are provided. You are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Yes. Both rooms have air conditioning. The outdoor areas and common spaces are naturally ventilated.

Mosquito nets are fitted on doors and windows throughout the property. We recommend bringing a personal repellent if you are sensitive, particularly for evenings outdoors.

Food and daily rhythm

Meals at Ashwattha are vegetarian, sattvic, and Ayurveda-style. They are cooked fresh each day using simple, nourishing ingredients — with produce from the property where possible. Three meals are included as part of your stay.

Yes, within reason. Please mention any dietary needs or preferences when you inquire and we will do our best to accommodate them.

No. Ashwattha is an Ayurveda wellness stay, and alcohol is not part of the experience.

There is a soft daily rhythm — treatments happen at set times, and meals are served at regular intervals — but we do not run a rigid schedule. Guests have time to rest, walk the property, read, or simply sit quietly between sessions.

Yoga can be arranged depending on your treatment plan and stay duration. Please mention it when you inquire.

Travel and location

Ashwattha is in Kandakkadavu, Kumbalangi Village, Kochi, Kerala. Kumbalangi is known for its backwaters and quiet surroundings, and is a short drive from Kochi city.

Kochi International Airport (COK) is the nearest airport. Airport pickup can be arranged at an additional cost — please mention it when you inquire and we will help coordinate.

Yes. Local experiences such as the beach, backwaters, and nearby sites can be arranged as optional add-ons. Most guests find they spend most of their time on the property itself, but the option is there if you want it.
